Word of the Week #6

I've come to realize that most of the words that I encounter that are unfamiliar to me come from lectures or class notes. As I sat in my business marketing class this morning, my professor began to talk about segmentation and the characteristics that people use to identify customers.

My professor when on to tell the class that

"segmentation must relate to propensity (n)"

Now he didn't mean this in a Webster dictionary way, if you will, but more along the lines of business marketing perspective.

According to the Webster dictionary definition, propensity is : "an often intense natural inclination or preference"

According to my professor, propensity is the tendency or willingness (of a consumer) to purchase a good or service.

Example: The common characteristics between subject one and subject two is the high propensity towards product "A".
