My professor when on to tell the class that
"segmentation must relate to propensity (n)"
Now he didn't mean this in a Webster dictionary way, if you will, but more along the lines of business marketing perspective.
According to the Webster dictionary definition, propensity is : "an often intense natural inclination or preference"
According to my professor, propensity is the tendency or willingness (of a consumer) to purchase a good or service.
Example: The common characteristics between subject one and subject two is the high propensity towards product "A".

I'm glad your prof has got you to look up some new words.
